Studio classes for all ages are offered throughout the year. Prices listed are non-member rates. Members receive a 25% discount and multi-student registrations also receive a 10% discount on second and each subsequent child.

Young Artists
Thurs, April 11, 25, May 9 and 23 3:30-4:15 P.M.
Studio 1
$15 class/ $45 SERIES
Instructor: Kaci Norman
Ages 3 to 5  Sign your budding artist up for this fun and energetic class. Each class will focus on a different art-making technique that is sure to engage your child while learning arts basics and honing fine motor skills.
 
Homeschool Jewelry Workshop

Fri, Apr 5 1-4 P.M. Apr 12 1-4 P.M. and Apr 19 1-5 P.M.

Instructor: Tabitha Maples
 
Ages 12-18  Older homeschool students are encouraged to register for this unique opportunity! Tabitha Maples, a local Jewelry artist, will be offering a jewelry making workshop. Students will learn the basic and will create at least 2 finished pieces. All materials and tools included. This class is limited to a small group of students so sign-up quickly!

Ages 6 to 13 The end of the school year means another year of summer camps at MMFA! Register your creative kid for any or all of our art-based summer camps this summer. Whether your child already has a love of art or is just getting started everyone will love a week of art-making with different materials and learning new techniques. 
 
In the Garden
June 3-7  2019  Morning session 8:30 A.M. -12:00 P.M.  Afternoon session 1:00-4:30 P.M.
Studio 1 and 2
$160 half-day/ $250 for full-day
For this week of camp students will be creating beautiful artworks all focused around the new John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden. Campers will spend time in the garden as well as our studios. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available- please inquire during registration process. 
 
Local Landscapes
June 24-28 2019 Morning session 8:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Afternoon session 1:00-4:30 P.M. 
Studio 1 and 2
$160 half-day/ $250 for full-day
Our second youth camp will focus on learning about and creating art inspired by our local landscape. Students will learn about some of Montgomery’s landmarks and look at the various types of landscapes that can be found around our beautiful state. Campers will get to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques to create amazing Alabama inspired artworks. 
 
Animals in Art
July 22-26 2019 Morning session 8:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Afternoon session 1:00-4:30 P.M. 
Studio 1 and 2
$160 half-day/ $250 full-day
As summer comes to an end give your students one last hoorah before returning back to school. This camp is all about animals! Students will visit the galleries to see how other artists have used animals in their artwork. Campers will use a variety of materials and art-making processes to create their own animal inspired works of art.
 
Teen Camp
 
Color & Pattern
July 8-12 2019 1-4:30 P.M. 
Studio 1 and 2
$160
Our teen camp for ages 13 & up will focus on how color and pattern can be used in different ways to create beautiful works of art. Campers will explore color and pattern in a variety of ways using several different techniques and materials. No prior art-making experience necessary! This camp is perfect for any teens just getting started as well as those with lots of art-making experience.

Family Art Affair

Join one of our docents on a special tour of the collection highlighting some of the treasures on view. These tours are free and meet in the lobby of the Museum.
 
Second Sundays

Some things are better together! Family Art Affair, Jazz Jams and our popular docent led Sunday tours are moving to the Second Sunday of every month. Bring the whole family for this multi-faceted Museum experience. During this program, visitors can listen to the sounds of jazz, create wonderful works of art and take a docent led tour. Drop in anytime between 2-4 P.M. for this free offering. Each month will have a theme connecting the tour, art activity and music. Tours will begin every 20 minutes in our lobby.

The state of Alabama offers a variety of different landscapes, from the coastal beaches on Gulf Shores to the Pine forests of Central Alabama there is something for everyone. Join us as we celebrate Alabama the Beautiful.
 
Poetry Slam
Thu, Apr 25 2019 6:30 P.M.
In partnership with youth-mentoring organization, That’s My Child, spoken word poets will be performing on the Museum’s stage. Montgomery’s own Jonathon “jpdapoet” Peterson will serve as MC for the evening. Everyone is welcome to support these young poets.
 
Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. Audience discretion is advised.

Poetry Slam
Registration deadline: Thu, Apr 18 at 5 P.M.
Event: Thu, Apr 25; check-in at 6 P.M.
 
Teens ages 12 and up are encouraged to register for the Museum’s first open poetry slam in partnership with That’s My Child. Poets will perform onstage following National Poetry Slam rules (www.poetryslam.com). One poem from each participant must be inspired by a work in the Museum’s collection. This poem will serve as their submission to be accepted into the slam. All participants must register on the Museum’s website and upload text or video/audio version of the poem through the website.

Flimp Chalk Competition

Calling all chalk artists! Help us celebrate the opening of the John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden by registering for the annual chalk competition. The garden is sure to inspire everyone participating in this year’s event. All artists are welcome to register. The Museum provides materials. Participants must register by April 12, 2019. The competition will be juried by local celebrity judges. Visit the Museum’s website for more information.
 
 
Flimp Festival

This year’s Flimp Festival is bound to be one for the record books. The Museum welcomes everyone to enjoy the chalk art competition, music, face-painting, lots of art-making activities, kids free chalk area, a demonstrating chalk artist, Kids Color Zone geared towards our very young visitors, food, performances by BTW students, yard games, scavenger hunt and the always popular Drum performer, Dave Holland. Spend the day with us here at the Museum.
