AMERICAN SCENE: A CURRICULUM GUIDE FOR 5TH GRADE TEACHERS

TOUR OVERVIEW

This sections provides an overview of the tour, including the goals and objectives.

TOUR CATEGORIES

The tour categories have been updated to include portraits, landscapes, sculpture,  genre scenes, and mixed media ​including both realistic and abstract works.

TOUR STRUCTURE

This section covers the different galleries, installations and lessons covered during the tour.

CURRICULUM GUIDE

A new curriculum guide has been created to provide more information about the works featured during the tour, including ties to the curriculum.

STUDIO

A new, revised studio activity will focus on the creation of a room in perspective. A special emphasis will be placed on understanding how artists create the illusion of depth on a two dimensional surface

ARTWORKS

The ARTWORKS section of the tour has been revised to use multiple senses:  Hook, Line and Sinker, Color Me in Motion, and Hopper in Perspective.

OUTREACH

The Outreach section of the tour covers the topics and procedures for classroom visits prior to museum tour.

This section includes a list of content standards for the Alabama Course of Study for Art, English, Math, and Social Studies.
