Lectures and gallery talks

Fleischman Lecture by Radcliffe Bailey
Thursday, June 11
6 PM

African American art lovers are invited to join us and hear how Radcliffe Bailey’s layered images evoke memory, narrate a personal experience, and are grounded in African American history. Bailey weaves contemporary elements together with a shared past struggle. In this talk, he will discuss his works in the exhibition Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press and the larger messages in his oeuvre.

The Fleischman Lecture Series is sponsored by the Carolyn & Winton Blount Endowment.

Gallery Talk: Vive la France

Tuesday, June 23
Noon

French print devotees are encouraged to join exhibition curator Margaret Lynne Ausfeld and Assistant Curator of Education Elisabeth Palmer as they discuss the distinctive creativity of French printmakers through the ages. The talk will also highlight prints in the exhibition, including works by Old Masters, such as Jacques Callot, as well as modern artists, like Georges Roualt, Georges Braque, and Raoul Dufy.
